My design process is getting much more refined. More organized layers, precise vectors and greater comfortability with different files formats.

Here’s a big project I’ve been working on with Yepser lately.

[NEWS: Perhaps I haven't mentioned on my blog yet... I have been contracting for Yepser since November 2009 as a Social Media Strategist, and in March 2010, they hired me on part-time to design, write, tweet, blog, answer the phone, etc. It's been good fun.]

But I digress…

We’ve recently finished up a big re-branding project for on online dating service called Connections With Heart (SM). My job was mainly to redo the header area on the home page, but then we decided it would be fun to keep the same header idea with different photos throughout the site.

Take a look at the old version of the Home page:

And the Home page after I got done with it:

AFTER

Riiight?? :) I think it really gave a whole new life to the site. Especially since it’s a site about human relationships, it’s extremely important to have that personal/human element rather than just illustrations or vectors.

Like I mentioned, we used different photos among the different sub-sections of the site.

You’ll see a few other elements of mine on those pages–the logo, buttons, etc.–in an effort to make everything cohesive.

A long project but a fun project. And I’m glad we spent the time we did getting it right because I think the result is quite nice.

Come Recommended will be launching a new service in January >>

GoodieRecruit, a division of Come Recommended, is a next-generation recruiting service specifically geared toward attracting and retaining Generation Y entry-level employees. Using Come Recommended’s database of candidates, GoodieRecruit organizes unique events with nonprofits local to and chosen by employer clients to evaluate candidates based on half-day work “experiences” completed on-site at the nonprofit’s location. The result is a narrowed-down selection for the client of two or three recommended candidates for each open position, accompanied by a complete portfolio about and rationale behind hiring each candidate.

As CR’s resident graphic designer, I was given the opportunity to work on all the startup materials for both online and print. While the Web site isn’t quite finished yet, my contributions (so far) include: the GoodieRecruit logo, navigation buttons and scrolling header images.

I’ve been working on quite a lot with GoodieRecruit these past few weeks. Be on the lookout for a GoodieRecruit brochure and post cards in the near future.

Now that I’ve been designing for Come Recommended for a few months, Heather Huhman asked me to create a logo for her “day job” at the AOTA. I was happy to do the logo pro bono because Heather promised good exposure within the AOTA Web site and other promotional materials associated with the campaign.

Having elderly grandparents myself (whose driving I frequently worry about…), I was happy to design for ‘Older Driver Safety Awareness Week.’ The concept was difficult to envision at first, but I enjoyed stretching my imagination a bit.

I recently finished up another campaign logo for Come Recommended‘s “Come Recommended Comes To Your City” campaign. This one had to look good (and still be legible) at a much smaller size, so I tried to be somewhat simple in my design and leave a good bit of space between characters.

It’s not flashy, but it works.

My new friend Rachel Esterline launched her new Web site and blog earlier this month, making great use of the new logo I designed for her. She’s a busy lady, that Rachel — the redesign extends from her site to her blog and Twitter profile.

To help her maintain some uniformity (although she doesn’t seem to have much trouble with that!), I’ll also be designing some business cards for her. Should be done by the end of this week, so check back for updates!

I did this logo back when my laptop was in the shop, so I almost forgot to post it!

A good friend of mine from high school reached out to me, asking if I could put together a logo for his sister’s play reading series. It’s really an interesting project.

She wanted something feminine but still powerful and modern as well. Here’s what I came up with:

I have loved everything about joining the Come Recommended team—not least of all the wonderful people I have come in contact with!

Rachel Esterline and I struck up a conversation via Skype after my first Come Recommended weekly team chat. It wasn’t hard to relate to her situation, seeing as I was just there—a communications student ready to conquer the world with my college education. [Still working on the conquering...]

We eventually started discussing our portfolios, and Rachel mentioned that she was looking to update her site and might want a new logo. In her kindness, Rachel offered to pay me, but my conscience just couldn’t handle charging another soon-to-be job seeker.

Plus… I really like making logos.

Anyway. All that to say: here it is! Once midterms are over and the poor girl has time to develop her new site, this will be Rachel’s new logo.

I’ve only been on the Come Recommended team a few days, but I’m diving right into the fray!

My first assignment was to create a logo for the new CR|PR service offered by Come Recommended to their company sponsors and partners. It’s a public relations and social media consulting service for companies looking to better connect with Generation Y.

Heather was looking for a logo that expressed their consulting capabilities across all media–newspapers, television, radio and the Internet.

Based on her vision, this is what I came up with:

It is now time to reveal to you all the nature of my secret mission with Heather Huhman. I designed a logo for Come Recommended’s new campaign, “We Want Jobs, Not Trophies.”

I always find it interesting to address the issue of entitlement within Generation Y. You can visit the site to learn more about the campaign.

Below are some screen shots with my logo right there in the middle.
